S4:E1 The One Where We Have Transfer Calls!

早上好!

Yes, as you can read the title of my email... transfer calls went a little crazy and I am back to the Mandarin work! As a follow-up trainer 😭 this was not how I expected to transition back to Mandarin haha I am so scared but I know I will learn so much and improve so fast.

This is my last week in Victoria 1st with sister Stakkeland. She will also be moving over to the New T's and I was so sad to find out that we were parting ways. I had such a fun transfer with her and I was able to learn so much and gain confidence in doing the work with her.

We had dinner with the Mo family last Friday and it was so cool getting to know them better. Scot Mo is someone that my brother taught for a year here in Hong Kong and he has the coolest story ever. He was just walking over in Wan Chai with his wife one day and they saw the screen outside the chapel that said "families are forever" then they came inside the chapel because they were interested in it and wanted it for their family which was the sweetest story I have ever heard.

This week was also so busy as we were preparing 7 hours making crafts for CNY. We made a hundred lanterns and only less than half was used hahaha. We had a lot of member visits this week which was so fun to be with families and be able to strengthen their relationships with one another. I love families and seeing families here make me so happy and grateful. Being in Vic 1 has allowed me to see the different kinds of families and how even if these families seem to look so perfect, they each have their own struggles and problems.

S3:E17 The One Where We Celebrate Chinese New Year 🧧

 大家好

新年快乐!

Although the work is going slow here in Victoria 1st, it's still doing great.

I'm learning to love the members here and develop patience with them. This branch really does have special people with different needs. Being a missionary is such an eye-opener, to mourn with those that mourn, to stand with those that stand in need of comfort. I always knew everyone had their own burdens to carry but then now I've come to know how heavy it actually is.

There is a BYU speech called "Flashes of Light" that I invite you guys to listen and reflect upon. In times of darkness, we can always turn to the light and seek for that light. The Lord's tender mercies are around us and we can be more spiritually sensitive to them.

Our recent convert, Chelsea, also had the chance to come to the temple. What a happy day to see her inside! She is so GOLDEN ✨️ after her temple experience, she was interested in doing family history work and shared to us how she has been talking to her family about the experience she has had with baptism and that she wants her little sister to be baptized too. "If you bring just one soul unto Him, how great shall be your joy!", I'm so happy to know that one choice can bless futures of generations.

This week is TRANSFER CALLS !! Let's get it I guess 😭 so scared for whatever's gonna happen: both staying and leaving

Pictures:

1. Quiana, sister Cheng's sister! She's so cute, I wish I could speak Cantonese so I could understand her better. Her dad says we could pass of as sisters haha she wants to serve a mission next year

2. The beautiful Hong Kong Island

3. Sister Ansah (wearing pink) and Emy (wearing yellow)! Sister Ansah served her mission in Hong Kong and married someone from South Africa. She has a crazy story about her life, she is suffering with cancer and then got into a car accident but she is still going and is the bubbliest person I've met. Her attitude towards her life's challenges is inspiring.

4. Mcflurry after pros-hours haha we got home late after sending one of our apartment-mates food at the hospital.

S3:E16 The One Where We Go to Disney!

新年快乐 🥟

☆ This week felt so slow and so long! We visited the Jacinto family that lives in Tuen Mun! They were such a sweet family and they fed us really good food 😋

☆ We also met with our friend Claire. She is an interesting lady from France. She doesn't want to get inside our chapel because of the paintings of Jesus Christ. She says that the bible tells us that we shouldn't have graven images. We tried telling her that we don't worship these paintings and that they are only there for our remembrance of what Jesus Christ did. As I tried finding answers to her concerns, I came across an article entitled "Images of Christ" and in it included the testimonies of artists who painted Christ. Personally, I am grateful for pictures of Christ because it reminds me that He was just like us, that He once lived among the people and of His ministry. And as a person who learns more from visuals than texts, it is so helpful to me. I want to share one of the sweet testimonies of one of the artists:

"I feel no better peace than when I am bearing witness of Christ through a paintbrush. The ability to speak my feelings is not one of my strong points. But a gracious Heavenly Father has blessed me with the ability to bear a witness of my Savior. In reflecting on my testimony and the effects of the arts in my life, I hope to have shown all brothers and sisters of Christ that I know Jesus is the Christ and that He lives."

☆ Last pday we were able to go to DISNEYLAND. How lucky are we to get to go to disney any time we want to!! It was so fun and happy to visit, go on rides and watch some shows.

S3:E15 The One Where They Get Dunked! 🤽‍♀️

 大家好!

♡ Recognizing the Spirit..

Many times in my missionary life, I often wonder how the Spirit feels like. I always knew that he gave feelings of peace, goodness and comfort but I didn't seem to recognize it. As time goes by I realize that the Spirit has always been speaking to me through feelings and thoughts and the times I recognize the Spirit is when he's not there. I'm grateful I grew up in an environment where the Spirit was always present, I'm grateful that I can always have His Spirit to be with me.

♡ Helaman 11

Beginning to forget .. beginning to remember

The Book of Mormon shows us a pattern of people witnessing the goodness of God but begin to forget and fall into a state of wickedness. Even if the Book of Mormon was written so long ago, the pattern is still the same until today. I hope we can all begin to remember. Begin to remember and recall the tender mercies of the Lord so that we will not fall into the same pattern. There is importance in remembering!

My invitation for you all this week is to think of ways you can be more sensitive in listening to the Spirit and to have a gratitude journal so you can reflect on what God has blessed you with.

S3:E14 The One Where Our Friends Make a Decision

早安!

I have happy news to share with all of you today. But before anything else, I want to share 2 miracles that happened this week.

☆ Sister Stakkeland and I went finding at Kennedy Town down to Sheung Wan. Finding foreigners here in Hong Kong is different and a little difficult. So when we find a few of them, we get really excited! As we were walking down the harbor, we see man and immediately knew we had to go talk to him. As we get closer to him, our fear starts to increase so we say a little prayer in our hearts. We finally approached him after 10 minutes and we invite him to church. We also taught him a quick restoration lesson and it was so good! We are still meeting with this guy, James, and will be giving him a copy of the Book of Mormon soon. He has really good questions and is very interested in learning more.

☆ We called our friend Amy last night and we asked her if we could pray together with her. We asked her what she wanted us to pray for and we prayed for her to find a good employer. She was so happy that we prayed with her. After an hour, she messaged us saying that she found a new employer and said that she was so happy because she felt that they were nice people! She also said that she was so thankful we prayed for her and that God was listening to our prayers.

♡ OUR FRIENDS MICHELLE AND CHELSEA ARE GETTING BAPTIZED NEXT SUNDAY!! We are so happy that our friends are making this really important decision. They are the sweetest girls ever! After their interviews, they asked a lot of questions about missionary work too which was super cool because Chelsea will be leaving to UK soon and she will be turning 19. She asked if there's a ward over there for her. We are so happy we can assist them and help them learn.
